CROSS COUNTRY RESULTS 2006
From 7th October to 7th January several junior club athletes took part in the Cumbrian Cross Country Series.
This is a series of races intended mainly as an introduction to Cross country.
All athletes who complete 3 runs are rewarded with a medal, and many did extremely well on 7 different courses.
Results are as follows:
Over a small 2 laps course the participants found the hilly conditions and the grass a bit of a challenge but still ran extremely well.
Jacqueline Pringle, 4th in 7mins. 57secs
Alison Pringle, 6th in 8.31.This was her first cross country for the club.
Over a small lap and a large lap, Jemma also had to overcome an extremely difficult course that would have tested even the most experienced athletes.

COCKERMOUTH LEISURE CENTRE
Over a smaller course than normal but in very wet and heavy underfoot, the girls ran extremely well to be 1ts team Jacqueline Pringle was 4th in 14.47, Emma 5th in 4.59 and Alison 10th in 5.24.
Over a 3 lap course Jemma ran with her usual grit and determination to finish in 3rd position.

NETHERHALL SCHOOL, MARYPORT
This was the most difficult course and all athletes who took part found the going hardand also had to cope with an uphill for the first time.
This time Emma found the course more to her liking than Jacqueline who found the going very tough but still fought to to finishing line. Emma, Jacqueline and ?Alison were again first team with Emma 4th in 9.47, Jacqueline 6th in 10.21 and Alison 11th in 11.01.
Over one small and one large lap Jack Back completed his first race for the club, running well to come 7th in 14.20.
NEWTON RIGG, PENRITH
This cross country also included the Cumbria cross country championships and was over a variety of challenging courses.
Jacqueline, Emma and Alison were 2nd team overall but 1st in the cross country series. Jacquelie came 4th in 5.00,one of her best races this winter with Emma 9th in 5.07 and Alison 14th in 5.36
Over a course with a very easy uphill at the back of the course, Jack Back came 22nd in 10.48. Jack ran a great race.
Jemma ran over a similar course to Jack and as usual gave her best to finish 9th in 21.43.
In the last of The Cumbria Cross Country Series, although there were a few showers before the races, underfoot conditions were much better than expected.
Already having won the 1st team prize prior to this race, Jacqueline, Emma and Alison completed the series with excellent runs, all 3 girls finishing in the first 6. Well done girls. Jacqueline, 2nd in 8.25,Emma 3rd in 8.46 and Alison 6th in 9.42.
On a longer course than the U11 Girls, Jack ran a strong race to finish with only 5 seconds separating 2nd and 6th athletes. Jack came in a creditable 6th place in 9.37.
Over a 2 lap course, Jemma ran extremely well to finish in a personal best over this course, being 3rd in 21.00.
